Standing Rules of Competition
USGA RULES govern all play.
Embedded ball rule is in effect “through the course” as stated in APP. 1. If in doubt as to procedure, invoke rule 3-3.
Other than several team events, all events are STROKE PLAY.
FLIGHTS: Will be determined by current indexes converted to the course handicap. The number of flights and players within flights will be determined by the number of entries.
PRIZES: Approximately 30% of the field will be paid. Gross and net prizes per flight will be paid in golf shop credit, low team scores per flight in Team Challenge. Founder’s Day and the Championship will have an overall gross and overall net Champion who will receive a trophy and a $50 gift card. Flight prizes will also be paid.
Hole-In-One – $50 gift certificate to the club of her choice.
YARDAGE will be between 5100-5300 yards.
SCORING: Players shall exchange scorecards within their group prior to start. Cards must be signed and attested. Cards must be returned to the designated collector within the time allocated. A player may NO CARD but card must be turned in to designated card collector and score posted for handicap purposes.
TIES will be decided by the USGA recommendation of matching cards (App. 1-2: back 9, back 6, back 3, etc.), except for Founder’s Day & Championship which will have a playoff.
CANCELLATION must be by email to Barbara DiPalma (bnb07@comcast.net) at least at least 4 days prior to event (11 am Sunday for Thursday event) for checks to be shredded.
Course set-up, slope & course rating will not be released until blast is sent for that event.
PRACTICE RPOND – Members are not entitled to a practice round at the courses on our schedule.
SCORING AREA: If a player has not left scorecard collection area and eating area, a scorecard may be amended and/or altered for signatures, correction of score and inclusion of penalty. Once results are announced only changes due to committee error or player DQ shall be made.
LIMITED FIELD: If there are more entries than the host club can accommodate, the following procedure will be used:
* Once the number of entries has been reached, an announcement that the event is closed will be sent.
* An alternat list based on the order additional checks are received will be kept.
* Checks of players not selected will be shredded.
RANGE FINDERS / CELL PHONES: range finders that ONLY measure distance are allowed. Cell phones may ONLY be used in case of emergency.
SUSPENDED PLAY POLICY: When play is suspended for a dangerous situation, players MUST discontinue play immediately, mark fall position and leave the course. Non compliance may result in disqualification.
RAIN OUT: If an event is cancelled, you will be notified in advance. When we are at the club and we cannot play and lunch is being served, attendance prizes will be distributed. If less than 9 holes are played, a lottery will be used to select winners. If 9 holes or more are played, par plus any handicap strokes will be added to your hole by hole score, and the winner will be determined as if you completed your round.
DRESS CODE: NO DENIM is allowed nor short shorts. Shirts must have either sleeves or a collar. NO TANK tops or CROPPED shirts are acceptable. No advertising logos across chest or back. Proper attire is required for lunch.
PACE OF PLAY: Ready golf is encouraged. You may ask to play through a slower group. You must keep up with the group in front of you.
SCORECARD must be returned to the designated collector by 4 hours 40 minutes from start of play to be eligible for prizes. Scorecards returned after this time will NOT be Eligible for prizes.

Post all scores at all times. For a Fore County event except Founder’s Day and the Championship, enter as non-tournament scores.
Special Events
Billie Goodman Founder’s Day
Stroke play competition awarding, in addition to regular flight winners, an OVERALL Gross and Net to Champion. Each will receive a trophy and a $50 gift certificate. A tie for overall Gross and Net Champions will be decided by a playoff.
Solheim Tournament
Partner competition played in three formats. Prizes awarded to low gross and low net scores in all flights.
Four-Ball Stroke Play (aka Better Ball) * – The best ball Gross & Net score on each hole is the team score. Handicap allowance – 95% of course handicap. In four ball stroke play events, if a difference of more than 8 strokes exists between partners an additional 10% reduction will be applied to the course handicap of each member of the team.
Scramble – Players hit their tee shots. Select the best shot. Both players hit from within one club length of the original spot Continue until ball is holed. Handicap allowance – 35% of lower course handicap, 15% of higher course handicap.
Chapman or Pinehurst Stroke Play (Hit-Switch-Select) – Both players hit their tee shot (HIT). Players then hut each other’s tee shot (SWITCH). Players then alternate hitting the )SELECT) ball until ball is holed. Remember, a player never hits the same ball twice in a row. Handicap Allowance – 60% of lower course handicap, 40% of higher course handicap.
Member-Member
Scramble (see definition and handicap allowance above). Players will select their own partner. Prizes awarded to low gross and low net scores in all flights.
Team Challenge
One tournament will have a team composed of one person from each handicap group (ABCD). The other tournament will have a team composed of two players from each of the handicaps (AA/BB, CC/DD). Format will be the 1 best gross ball and the 1 best net ball; a different ball must be used for gross and net balls. Prizes awarded to low team scores (sum of gross and net) in all flights.
Partner Event *
Select a partner for this Better Ball event with 95% of course handicap used and an additional 10% reduction applied if a difference of more than 8 strokes exists between partners. Prizes awarded to low net team scores in all flights.
Championship
Stroke Play individual event. To be eligible for the title of Champion (Gross and Net), you must have played in at least two Fore County events during this season. A player NO Carding (NC) in the first round of the championship is considered to have withdrawn from the event and is not eligible to play in the 2nd round. You may join us for lunch on the second day. You may play for flight prizes if you do not meet the 2 event requirement. A “no card” (NC) or withdrawal (WD) does not count toward the 2 event requirement. Overall Champions will receive a trophy and a $50 gift certificate. A tie for overall Gross and Net Champion will be decided by a playoff.
